Happy 150th birthday, Canada!

To us Canadians, July 1st doesn’t just mean summer is officially in full swing (I know the first day of summer is in June, but usually June still feels like spring, especially this year) – July 1st is Canada Day! The one day a year where we all get together with friends, family, and neighbours to celebrate Canada’s birthday.

This Canada Day isn’t just a regular ol’ year older for our dearest country. It’s a very special birthday. Canada is 150 years old! And to celebrate, the city of Brampton is filled with events to make Canada’s 150th birthday the best birthday yet! Below are some wonderful Canada Day 2017 celebrations taking place right here at home in Brampton on July 1st for the whole family to enjoy!

Chinguacousy Park

When it comes to celebrations, Brampton’s Chingaucousy Park is the top spot! This year, Canadian rockers Big Wreck will be headlining the Main Stage with fellow Canadian group Yukon Blond opening. Head there early to see Little Bones, a Tragically Hit Tribute band, kick off the night. Make sure to stick around until 10:00pm to watch a spectacular Fireworks Finale for all to enjoy (weather permitting). Find out more info at www.brampton.ca/EN/Arts-Culture-Tourism/Festivals-and-Events/Canada-Day/Pages/welcome.aspx

Bonus: Make sure to check out the specially decorated Muskoka chairs on display at Chinguacousy Park.

Royal Canadian Legion

Come out to the Royal Canadian Legion BR 609 to celebrate Canada’s 150! There will be a BBQ, prizes and free giveaways, and a full day of celebrations! Find more details at www.rclbramaleabr609.ca/events.html

Canada Day Strawberry Festival

If you venture slightly outside of Brampton, you’ll find Downey’s Farm celebrating Canada’s 150 birthday with a Canada Day Strawberry Festival. With live music, fun activities, and even a dog show, this event is great for the little ones! Find out more info at www.downeysfarm.com/downeys-farm-market-strawberry-fest.htm

No matter how you spend your July 1st celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, be sure to have a fun and safe time! If you know of any other Brampton Canada Day events, be sure to share them in the comments!
